The rules here are simple and they're just like every other set of basic rules in RPdom. Don't be a douche bag, don't godmod, don't steal, keep IC and OOC separate, etc., etc. Know and embrace these rules and you'll be fine. However, there are a few rules specific to this game, and here they are in handy bullet format:
√ Research. This goes for anything you're doing, not just the supernatural stuff. Make sure you know what kind of gun you're dealing with before you have your character shooting up the place with an uzi. For information on the sort of supernatural things (and how they work in this universe) you can consult
Supernatural's Wiki, plain ol'
Wikipedia is great for anything else.
√ Updates. Journal entries are not what count toward activity here. You need to be active in threads and/or AIM logs and you need to be active on
huntersblog, interacting with other characters. Hunting can be a solo event, but you need contacts to get information about things eventually. Even Sam and Dean had an extensive collection of contacts they used.
√ Journals & AIM. Journals can be anything, so long as they relate to your character. You can go with your character's name or something descriptive, so long as it isn't anything like 'hawtiehunter' or 'bbboi99'. In fact, no numbers, no x's (unless it's part of a name), and no more than 2 underscores and don't use the consecutively. IC AIM isn't required for this game, but an OOC would be nice (but not mandatory) in order to get in touch with other players.
√ Characters. The limit is four. Slash as well as bisexuality, pansexuality, etc. are allowed, but in moderation, like always. If you join the game and are active for at least two threads and then vanish, when you are removed your character
will be killed off. It helps preserve the canon of the game and instead of leaving another player abandoned in an SL, it gives them closer and something to work with.
√ Played-Bys. Make sure your choices are age-appropriate. Jared Padalecki isn't 21 and Blake Lively isn't 32 - be realistic. Also, to be considered acceptable for this game, your played-by must have a legitimate career. That means, they need to be found on imdb or wikipedia at the very, very least. No originals, myspacers, or internet!famous played-bys allowed. And, while we're at it, we're banning the Hilton sisters and those like them.
√ Plotting & Gameplay. Once a month, the moderator will post a series of happenings that are taking place around the country - they're all clues toward a supernatural occurrence. It is up to your character to either do more research or utilize their contacts within the game to find out what's going on and how to kill it. The game will operate in real-time to limit confusion and as far as plot points and kills are concerned, we're operating under the rule that if it isn't scened, it didn't happen. That means if your character was planning on killing a wendigo and a thread/AIM log/narrative was never posted with your character killing the wendigo: your character didn't kill the wendigo, which means another character can pick up the job.
